FORECAST PREVIEW: More Rain & Cold

Storms pushed across the state this evening to produce a second round of heavy rain in portions of the state. Rainfall totals were topping the 1″ mark, and even 1.5″ in North Central Iowa, while severe weather was non-existent despite a small risk for hail.

Heavy rain will return to the state on Wednesday, with another widespread half inch targeting Iowa, with the potential for much more.

Webster City: 1.00″

Fort Dodge: 0.73:

Ames: 0.46″

Carroll: 0.39″

Marshalltown: 0.28″

Des Moines: 0.13″

BLIZZARD WARNING: Snow And Strong Winds Expected

A late season winter storm is set to impact parts of Central Iowa overnight and early Monday morning.  Temperatures will remain close to the freezing point in Des Moines, which will lead to mix precipitation and limited snow accumulations.  Heavier accumulations will be experienced North of I-80.  The clipper system will begin to affect central Iowa between 11PM and 1AM.  The system will move quickly and exit the state by early Monday morning.

The Marshalltown Fire Department has released a warning reminding people of the dangers of ice during current fluctuating temperatures.

In a statement they warn that, “Ice is very unstable when it freezes and thaws and refreezes so beware and be safe.”
